Design Exercise

This is one of Ann Johnston's design exercises from her book "The Quilter's Book of Design". Starting with a photo with some interesting lines and shapes, quickly make 10 or so small sketches using some of the elements from the photo drawn very simplified in various combinations, sizes, orientation, distortions, arrangements. Choose one of the sketches, make 4 copies and shade the shapes and lines in 4 completely different value patterns with 3-6 shades of gray, including black and white. Choose one of the value patterns as the inspiration for a small art piece (fabric and fusible web works well)
